Comments about Neon One

At Bigfork Food Bank, we are purchasing our first CRM and are seriously considering Neon One. I don’t want a CRM product that is too basic, which we may outgrow quickly. I’ve used Raiser’s Edge/RE NXT for 20+ years at work so that’s all I am used to. If you use Neon One, can you post your comments, tips, critiques to give us more data when making this decision? I think we need the intermediate “Impact” level, but I’m no expert on CRMs and would love your tips. Thank you!

Hi Cathy!

We use Neon One at MNA. I will say, our experience has been mixed - we’ve had it since 2020, and although it has improved recently, there are still some things that just don’t work for us. That said, our use case is probably much different - we’re managing memberships and events, where you are more likely to be using it to manage donors and donations. SO those aspects of the platform may be great. Best tip I can give is to make sure you have an integration team that you like.

Cathy,
I am not in the back end of Neon in the same ways that Kate, Tylyn, and Julie are–and I would have said the same as Kate. Our experience has been mixed, but our work at MNA is not as donor centric as the FoodBank. There are some great automations for receipting and creating workflows for your team, but I haven’t used other tools like Raiser’s Edge to really compare. My one piece of advice is to have a strong idea of what you want Neon to do for you, and then ask your sales person to show you in real time how it would look. Do not trust them when they promise you the moon–it’s the design team on the other side of the transaction who have to make it work.
I’d be happy to jump on a Zoom to let you look at the CRM.

Cathy,
I learned this today about Neon: wanted to pass it along.
