Cell phone reimbursement

Hello! We currently utilize phone services through a local business. We are exploring using Google Voice or a similar product since employees are working remote more frequently. We can set our office phone to forward, but want to explore other options, too.

Does anyone work at a nonprofit that provides a reimbursement/allowance for personal cell phone use? Do you have a policy you’d be willing to share? How do you determine the reimbursement amount? My gut was to do a % of their monthly bill based on their hours worked, but I’m sure there are other strategies.

When we initially set up our cell phone reimbursement policy, it was provided to staff that traveled and needed their phones while out of the office. Now that phones are used on various website for authentication, we allow it for all employees. We provide $50/mth. Employees must fill out a form and provide the first page of their cell phone bill so we can verify that they are actually incurring the expenses. I’m happy to provide the authorization form and policy as a sample.
