Hi, all!
Curious if anyone has experience with purchasing, leasing, or having been donated a car?
I, the Executive Director, typically travel about 30-50% of the time, but certain times of the year I may be on the road even more; I am racking up miles on my personal vehicle incredibly fast and I just don’t see how this will be sustainable long term…
Trying to pin-point what our options might be as far as securing a “work vehicle” for the organization, which will primarily be used by me.
I recognize there are a lot of things to consider – insurance, registration, maintenance/upkeep, etc.
Any insight you might be able to offer would be incredibly helpful!
We have so many staff members that travel for their jobs that we couldn’t do it any other way. But a better example might be for one of our staff members that lives 100 miles away from our office and works remotely. We spent a couple of years having them submit invoices for mileage reimbursement and the cost was far more than just giving them one of our company-owned vehicles. We cover insurance and maintenance and they use their company credit card for fuel. In the long run its cheaper than reimbursing mileage. We purchase ours, but you may want to consider leasing. The one draw back on leasing is the mileage limitations, but that depends on how much travel you do each year. I have heard of dealers donating demo vehicles if you put their logo on it.
Megan,
You might find it helpful to give Adam a call here at MNA. We purchased a Rav4 for our team to use–it’s been incredibly helpful.
